2013-2014 BCHS RANGLER GIRLS BACK-TO-BACK STATE CHAMPIONS IN HIP HOP Hip Hop: 1st at Belleville East, Marion, Benton and Highland Jazz: 1st at Belleville East, Marion, Benton and 3rd at Highland State Competition in Springfield, IL 2A HIP HOP STATE CHAMPIONS * 2A JAZZ 3RD PLACE It takes blood, sweat and a lot of tears to be called a champion. It takes four hour practices, five days a week, for months on end to get to that next level. The Benton Rangler Girls put in the work and it paid off big at the 2014 IDTA State Dance Competition at the Prairie State Convention Center in Springfield, IL. The Rangler Girls were a 1A dance team in 2013 and brought home a 1st in Hip Hop and a 2nd in Jazz. Earlier this year the team was informed that they would be bumped up to 2A. "There is a lot tougher competition in 2A and we were concerned when we first learned of the change", says coach Mindy Karnes. Our girls worked hard this season because they felt they needed to be competitive". That hard work and team spirit earned them yet another State championship in Hip Hop. "It's a big deal to have a two-time state trophy to bring into our school", Coach Karnes said. Team members are: Aspen Browning, Josie Overturf, Haylee Knight, Ashley Furlong, Autumn Ligon, Makenzie Rich, Tanya Gulliksen, Cortney Denbow, Cassidy Howell, Chelsey Dorris, Amber Noel and Coach Mindy Karnes

I'm extremely proud of all their regional competition achievements along with their 3rd place finish at state in pom! What an awesome way to finish an already great season!" - Coach Christina Morris
